Zoo-rrific Kid's Birthday Party

Dropping off your birthday gang at the local “arches” restaurant is tempting, but with a little effort, you can pull off a “zoo-per” party. Although taking the kids to a real zoo is fun, we have some great ideas for all the zoo activities you’ll need to make a great party at home

Make It Special!

Invite with zany zoo creatures.

  • Cut zoo animal stickers in half at animal’s waistline; place on plain invitation cards in mix-and-match fashion.  Also using stickers, make an animal parade with the animals carrying presents or balloons.

Decorate with “zoo-pendous” ease.  Gather the whole family to help with these easy ideas.

  • Cut out paper place mats in the shape of zoo animals.  Place animal stickers on card stock to create place cards; print children’s names on place cards with bright-colored markers.  Fill party cups with snack mix.

Make the activities “zoo much” fun!

  • Offer face painting for kids to imitate zoo animals.  Draft another parent to help out with this activity.  Make headbands with ears cut from construction paper.
  • Play pin the tail on the zoo animal.  Check out a party store or home decorating store for large animal graphics.
  • Hire a local theater to put on a puppet show with zoo animals.
  • Keep a ready-reserve animal video on hand in case your zoo gets out of control.  Videos also come in handy when you need to be in the kitchen getting the food ready.

Send the party home with “zoo wonderful” memories.

  • Fill party loot bags with bags of “Beary Good” Snack Mix, zoo animal stickers and a plastic zoo animal.
