Magical Prince Castle Party

Gather the King and his knights around this spectacular castle cake - an impressive and secure medieval fortress. Celebrate bravery and victory over dragons and marauding armies, with a party fit for royalty!  But what is your birthday kid is a Queen?

Make It Special!

Party Invitations

  • Cut gray or silver cardstock invitations in the shape of a castle or sword. Tuck in a miniature dragon for extra enticement.
  • Invite the kids to come dtressed as knights or princesses.

Party Decorations

  • Fly flags on the outside of your house with the birthday prince's name.
  • Gather celebrants at the “round table” where the royalty meets. Decorate the birthday child's chair with regal ribbons and velvet scrap fabric.

  • The Castle Cake makes a royal table centerpiece. Surround the castle with plastic knights and dragons from a toy or craft store. 


Party Games & Activities

  • Create a rousing game of "Pin the Tail on the Dragon".
  • Offer bins of building blocks for a castle building contest.  The kid who builds the tallest or most inventive structure wins a special prize.
  • Start a cannon ball fight! Spray paint baseball-sized Styrofoam balls black, break the party into teams and let them have at it. The team that captures the most cannon balls is declared victorious!

Party Favors

  • For a fun party bag idea make a balloon bag. Tuck an assortment of favors into a balloon, then blow it up. Everyone takes home a balloon as well as the treat.

Food Preparation Guide

Up to One Week Before
  • Bake the cake layers; cool and store in plastic resealable bags.  

The Day Before

  • Bake the Magic Wand Snacks; cool and store in resealable plastic bags.

Morning of the Party

  • Make the Sparkling Strawberry-Lemonade Slush; freeze
  • Assemble, frost and decorate cake (the birthday boy may want to help); place in center of table

About 40 Minutes Before Serving Guests

  • Warm Magic Wand Snacks in 300ºF oven, if desired.
  • Allow beverage slush to warm up a bit if frozen hard.
  • Slice apples; arrange on plate or cutting board.
